Common Reasons Why a Spray Bottle Won't Spray
If a spray bottle isn't spraying, there are only a few reasons: a clogged nozzle, insufficient air pressure, or a blocked inlet or nozzle. Don't worry, we'll tackle them one by one!
Replacing or Cleaning the Nozzle
A clogged nozzle is the most common problem. You can try removing and replacing the nozzle, or soaking it upside down in white vinegar for a day, then washing it clean. It works! If the blockage is severe, you can gently poke it with a needle, but be careful not to damage it.
Restoring Air Pressure in the Spray Bottle
Sometimes a spray bottle won't spray because of insufficient internal air pressure. In this case, you can firmly block the nozzle with your finger and then press the spray bottle several times. This will help restore air pressure, and the spray bottle will work normally again! This little trick is really useful, remember to save it!
Cleaning the Inlet or Nozzle
If the inlet or nozzle is blocked, it needs to be cleaned. Like I encountered before, when the watering can only drip a small amount of water, it turned out the inlet was blocked. Use dental floss to remove the transparent, fibrous material, clean it thoroughly, and then reassemble it-it should look brand new!
Fixing a Clogged Sunscreen Spray
What if your sunscreen spray isn't spraying? Don't worry, first remove the white plug inside. Then, turn the bottle upside down and press down to test if it sprays. If it does, you can put the plug back in; it's probably a pressure issue. I've tried this method myself, and it really works!
DIY Spray Bottle Replacement
If your spray bottle is completely broken, no problem! You can DIY a replacement! Find a water bottle or other suitable container, use a nail drill to make a small hole, then use pliers to tear off the metal sheet and fold it into a funnel shape. Pour the contents into the new spray bottle. It's a bit of work, but it solves the immediate problem!
